    Hi,

    my client just sent me a screenshot of our current project saying it won’t load on their browser (which I suppose is IE6).

    Please have a look at the attached screenshot.

    What is wrong here? In the blue box there’s supposed to appear a Flash animation. Is this a Flash or Javascript or CSS issue?

    Please help me.

    What does the error say? I can’t make it out from the screenshot. Also do you have a link to that particular page?

    Hi Vinnyio,

    yes, the client told me the error is something like “the requested page http:... could not be opened”. It was a standard error, so I guess it’s not really relevant.

    The link to the project is this: http://nordevent.designbits.de

    Although I’m currently working on it, and things may look different to the screenshot I provided. Can anybody tell me how to make this work in IE7?

    The browser screenshot is IE7. Did you follow my tutorial or do this yourself?

    K I have seen this before I just need to remember what it was. It was something very simple. For starters
    Try putting the javascript outside the mssHolder layer

    <div id="mssHolder"> </div>
     [removed]
                                  var so = new SWFObject("/slideshow/monoslideshow.swf", "mss", 599, 275, "7", "#a6c7e6");
                                  so.addVariable("showLogo", "false");
                                  so.addVariable("showVersionInfo", "false");
                                  so.addVariable("dataFile", "/slideshow/monoslideshow.xml");
                                  so.write("mssHolder");
                            [removed]

    Yes you are right, it’s IE7. I can’t change the title of this thread any more :-(

    I have implemented a version now that should work on all browsers. Please have a look again.

    I also read some of your posts regarding MSS but couldn’t find the tutorial you’re talking about. Where is it?

    Actually, I followed the “MSS manual” to implement the slideshow. Was that a mistake?

    Hi Vinnyio,

    OK, the Javascript is outside the <div> now. It still looks good in Safari and Mozilla, but I can’t verify if it’s working in IE7 at the moment, because I don’t have a PC at hand. Do you?

    Otherwise my colleague is going to call me in an hour or so.

    Thanks for your help by the way, it’s really appreciated…

    monoslideshow tutorial

    This is the link to my tutorial which is a beginners guide really. Integrating the gallery into it with a few tips along the way. Just asking for troublehshootings sake.

    I am still getting the error in IE 7 though
    For anyone searching the error is Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

    I know I came across a fix before but I cannot for the life of me remember it

    something just came into my head. Try making the doctype transitional rather than strict mode

    Don’t worry. My colleague is going to ring me in a few hours to tell me if it’s working in IE7. I don’t have a PC in this office because I’m an avid Mac fan…

    Thanks for your help so far. Would be cool to see you here again later…

    I can confirm that this is still happening in IE6 on PC here at home and on IE7 before I left work. One fix to try is add defer=“defer” to your swfobject js call

    < script type="text/javascript" src="/js/swfobject.js">[removed]

    to

    < script type="text/javascript" src="/js/swfobject.js" defer="defer">[removed]
